WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, May 13, 2020 — American Humane, the country’s first national humane organization, today announced that Big Sky Ranch / CATNIP Foundation is a recipient of American Humane’s Feed the Hungry grant. Located in Folsom, Louisiana, Big Sky Ranch and Retreat is an organic ranch and farm dedicated to raising awareness and nurturing the wellbeing of people, animals and the planet. Proceeds from Big Sky programs and events support the ongoing rescue and care of abandoned and neglected domestic pets and farm animals from across Louisiana via the CATNIP Foundation.
Working in St. Tammany Parish and south Louisiana, Big Sky Ranch’s CATNIP Foundation aims to reduce the unnecessary killing of animals in shelters and improve overall quality of life for animals as well as their owners. The foundation works with the public, along with partner organizations and municipal agencies, to innovate, support and model efforts to create no-kill communities and remove the need for animal shelters and sanctuaries. Big Sky Ranch is home to over 200 animals that have been given a second chance at life. The Feed the Hungry grant will allow the team to continue to care for animals at their farm, while also providing necessary supplies to pet owners in the community.
