Nylabone Provides Grant for American Humane’s Feed the Hungry Fund

October 15, 2020American Humane, the country’s first national humane organization and the world’s largest certifier of animal welfare practices, today announced Nylabone awarded them a grant in support of American Humane’s Feed the Hungry fund. American Humane launched its Feed the Hungry fund to feed and care for animals across the country who have been abandoned during the novel coronavirus crisis. Through its grant program to rescues and shelters, the fund has served more than 570,000 meals to date.

“We must continue to take action to ensure organizations that are housing animals left by the wayside during this sweeping pandemic have the basic resources needed to ensure the safe and humane treatment of animals in their care,” said Dr. Robin Ganzert, president and CEO of American Humane. “These animals rely on us to provide lifesaving shelter and relief from the dire circumstances they face. We are so grateful to Nylabone for helping us answer their calls for help.”

In addition to providing basic necessities such as pet food, comfortable bedding and litter, the Feed the Hungry fund can be used for crucial veterinary services. Rescue organizations also use the funds to help lower-income pet owners in the community that may lack needed resources to care for their pet.

“We wanted to give a shout out and big thank you to American Humane for their Feed the Hungry grant, and also to Nylabone for their generous donation,” said Keri Burgess, president of The Farm Dog Rescue, a recipient of the Feed the Hungry grant. “Thank you so much, we are really grateful.”

The Farm Dog Rescue is a local animal rescue organization supporting animal welfare in Martin County, Florida. It rescues and adopts dogs, educates people and helps animals in need within the community. The Farm Dog Rescue has made it a priority to provide spay and neuter to reduce pet overpopulation in Martin County. The Farm Dog Rescue is one of the many shelters that will benefit from Nylabone’s grant.
