WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, July 1, 2020 — American Humane, the country’s first national humane organization, today announced that Vincennes Animal Shelter received a grant from American Humane’s Feed the Hungry fund. Located in Vincennes, Indiana, the animal shelter places homeless dogs and cats in forever homes.

“We have a lot of kittens here who are heavily relying on us as well as dogs,” said Paige Christian, Animal Control Officer at the Vincennes Animal Shelter. “During COVID-19, we were shut down so we didn’t get as many donations as we normally do, and we heavily rely on those. With this grant, we were able to buy what we need, such as kitten milk for our foster babies. We want to thank you tremendously for what you’ve done for the shelter.”

Vincennes Animal Shelter rescues homeless and abandoned animals around Vincennes and the surrounding area. The team takes care of the animals or finds suitable foster placements, until a forever home is found. Although the shelter was closed for a period of time during the pandemic, the animals still needed to be cared for, and the Feed the Hungry fund will help in replenishing crucial supplies.
