American Humane Presents Have a Heart Pet Shelter with Feed the Hungry Grant

WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, May 6, 2020American Humane, the country’s first national humane organization, today announced that Have a Heart Pet Shelter received a grant from American Humane’s Feed the Hungry fund. Located in Yellville, Arkansas, Have a Heart Pet Shelter seeks to bring comfort and aid to animals who have been cast aside in North Central Arkansas, and to find them exceptional homes where they can live out their lives as family members.

“We serve Marion County, Arkansas, which includes four major communities; Yellville, Bull Shoals, Flippin and Summit,” said Linda Vincent, President of Have a Heart Pet Shelter. “We started a program this year called The Pet Food Assistance Program and it’s primarily for people who are at the impoverished level, who are disabled, and are unable to provide adequate food for their animals. We are doing this with the assistance of American Humane, who recently gave us a grant so that we can provide food to these people, so they are able to continue caring for the animals in their homes. Thank you so much to American Humane for helping us with this wonderful program.”

Have a Heart Pet Shelter is a non-profit rescue shelter in North Central Arkansas.  The shelter takes in animals brought to them from Marion County animal control, as well as owner surrenders. The team at Have a Heart Pet Shelter strives to find the best homes for the pets in their care, and each animal is given a current Rabies vaccination, spay or neuter service, a heartworm and tick-borne disease test and de-worming. The Feed the Hungry fund will allow Have a Heart Pet Shelter to continue to care for its animals, as well as the pets in the community.
