American Humane and Chicken Soup for the Soul Serve Up a Heaping Helping of Pet Food to SBK Animal Control Center

The Organizations Donated and Delivered 3,230 Pounds of Pet Food to the Tennessee Shelter

Today, American Humane and Chicken Soup for the Soul made a special delivery of food and love to the SBK Animal Control Center in Kingsport, Tennessee. The two organizations worked together to present the animal control center with 3,230 pounds of premium, all-natural Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food.

The donation is part of an ambitious national campaign called “Fill-a-Bowl…Feed-a-Soul™” to distribute one million donated meals to shelter pets around the country waiting for their forever homes. Since its launch, the campaign has provided more than half a million pounds of Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food to U.S. shelters.

The campaign’s first shipment was in September 2016, when 80,000 pounds of food was sent to help the animal victims of flood-devastated Louisiana. The American Humane Rescue team, which was on the ground in Livingston Parish—where an estimated 75% of all homes were destroyed—coordinated the distribution of the donated pet food to help the countless lost, frightened and hungry animals who were found wandering among wreckage caused by the floods.

Today’s delivery to the SBK Animal Control Center brought smiles all around to the center’s employees and volunteers, who are dedicated to providing the best possible care to lost and homeless animals.

“SBK Animal Control Center is very thankful to American Humane and Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food for this generous donation,” said Donna Davidson, supervisor at SBK Animal Control Center. “This donated food will enable us to feed our animals for months, providing sustenance and comfort as they wait for their forever homes.”

“This campaign helps animals when they need help most,” said Dr. Robin Ganzert, president and CEO of American Humane. “On behalf of all the beloved pets across the country, a big thank-you to our friends at Chicken Soup for the Soul!”
