American Humane Presents Stray Cat Alliance with Feed the Hungry Grant

WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, July 6, 2020American Humane, the country’s first national humane organization, today announced that Stray Cat Alliance received a grant from American Humane’s Feed the Hungry fund. Located in Los Angeles, California, Stray Cat Alliance educates and empowers communities to advocate for every cat’s right to be safe, healthy and valued.

Stray Cat Alliance envisions a time when all cats are valued and safe whether in homes or communities, and when shelters serve as temporary safe havens. Each rescued cat and kitten at Stray Cat Alliance receives veterinary care (spay/neuter, vaccines, testing, check-ups, microchips) until a permanent, loving home is secured. In 2019, the adoptions program found homes for more than 1,340 cats and kittens. The shelter also provides the public with low-cost or free resources for community cats, as well as a targeted free spay/neuter program. The team’s efforts in the critical area of Los Angeles additionally include education, advocacy and outreach. Stray cats need human help and, unlike their human counterparts on earth, they can’t make it alone. American Humane’s Feed the Hungry grant will be used to save more helpless lives, purchase necessary equipment and food, and provide toys and supplies to the cats in the shelter that are still awaiting their forever homes.
