American Humane Presents Kindred Souls Foundation with Feed the Hungry Grant

WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, July 8, 2020American Humane, the country’s first national humane organization, today announced that Kindred Souls Foundation received a grant from American Humane’s Feed the Hungry fund. Located in Steilacoom, Washington, Kindred Souls Foundation provides sanctuary to abandoned, abused and neglected cats and dogs of all ages.

“We want to thank American Humane for the generous Feed the Hungry grant,” said Brian Nelson, Co-founder and Chairman of the Board of Kindred Souls Foundation. “This grant allowed us to provide food to some of the most vulnerable populations in Pierce County, Washington – those experiencing poverty, homelessness and victims of domestic violence. When the pandemic hit, our governor issued a “Stay Home – Stay Healthy” proclamation. We saw an increase in requests by 110 percent for food. This grant allowed us to help meet that need. Thank you, American Humane.”

Through specially designed programs and community involvement, Kindred Souls Foundation strives to ensure all animals are given the opportunity to be loved and well cared for. As well as providing shelter to homeless animals, the outreach program at Kindred Souls Foundation was designed to give pet food, supplies and spay/neuter services to those in need, in an effort to keep families together. Since COVID-19, the organization has seen a surge in requests for food and supplies. Kindred Souls Foundation was selected as a recipient of the Feed the Hungry grant so that the team can continue to serve its community members who are struggling.
