American Humane Presents Atlanta Humane Society with Feed the Hungry Grant

WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, May 19, 2020American Humane, the country’s first national humane organization, today announced that the Atlanta Humane Society is a recipient of American Humane’s Feed the Hungry grant. Located in Atlanta, Georgia, the Atlanta Humane Society is a no-kill shelter providing 60,000 direct points of care to animals each year through sheltering and adoption, veterinary care, and community outreach.

“We are so grateful that American Humane has recognized the need for emergency food response to support vulnerable pets during this pandemic,” said Cal Morgan, CEO and president of the Atlanta Humane Society. “This grant will allow us to provide free food and supplies to owned and community animals that have been impacted by COVID-19 and directly support our efforts to keep pets fed and with their owner during this crisis.”

The Atlanta Humane Society operates out of three locations in metro Atlanta and helps find nearly 10,000 animals loving homes each year. One of the oldest charities in Atlanta, it has been a resource for the community and animals for more than 146 years. The shelter aims to connect homeless animals with good homes and neglected animals with safe spaces. Now, the team is providing pet owners in need with free pet food during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Veterinary Center is providing low-cost injury and illness veterinary care during this time, as well as free virtual veterinary assistance and behavior assistance. In addition, the Atlanta Humane Society is providing no-cost emergency boarding, and a pet hotline.
