WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, June 2, 2020 — American Humane, the country’s first national humane organization, today announced that the Animal Rescue League of Boston, received a grant from American Humane’s Feed the Hungry fund. Located in Boston, Massachusetts, The Animal Rescue League of Boston (ARL) is an unwavering champion for animals in need, committed to keeping them safe and healthy in habitats and homes.

For 120 years, the ARL has responded to the needs of animals and the people who care about them. With over 700 dedicated volunteers and 100 staff members, the ARL lends unwavering support to local animals, families and neighborhoods. The team provides outstanding veterinary care, adoption, and field services, while also confronting the root causes of animal cruelty and neglect through special police investigation and advocacy aimed at strengthening the laws that protect animals. In 2019, the shelter served more than 20,000 animals in need. Today, they increasingly focus on prevention and keeping animals out of shelters and in the communities where they belong. The Feed the Hungry fund will allow the ARL to supply critical food and supplies to the community during these trying times, helping to keep pets with their families, in neighborhoods where the impact of the pandemic is great.
