Learning Virtually

Humane Heroes is a series of free books from American Humane and Chicken Soup for the Soul that aims to instill the love of animals into young people, encourage them to protect disappearing species and support humane conservation. The books are available to download for free on both Nook and Kindle.

The 36 stories in the Humane Heroes series focus on the inspirational stories of animal rescue, rehabilitation, and humane conservation being performed around the world by leading zoological organizations that have been verified by American Humane to uphold high standards of animal welfare. Each book is designed to introduce young readers to the fascinating world of animals, and cultivate a new generation of conservation-minded animal ambassadors who will appreciate and protect the wonderful creatures with whom we share the Earth.

During the novel coronavirus pandemic, when children in all 50 states are learning from home, American Humane’s president and CEO, Dr. Robin Ganzert, is giving students a new, virtual platform through which they can learn about animal welfare.
